Caleres Hires Malcolm Robinson to Expand International Footprint

Caleres, the parent company of a number footwear brands such as Allen Edmonds, Sam Edelman, Naturalizer, Franco Sarto, Dr. Scholl’s Shoes, has recruited Malcolm Robinson as the president of international sales division as well as men’s apparel section. Robinson will be responsible for augmenting the demand for Caleres’ newly launched men’s brand as well as formulating strategies for the company to expand their geographical presence.

Caleres, which has a rich history of being in the footwear market for nearly 130 years, have taken a calculated decision to sought the services of Robinson, who until recently was working as the vice president (executive) at One Jeanswear Group’s William Rat Division, handling the responsibility of in-store marketing as well as making the sales strategies for the lifestyle brand. Before that, Malcolm has handled the responsibility of President at Maidenform Brands and at Tommie Copper as CEO as well as board member. As per the press release from Caleres, Malcolm Robinson has also had vast experience at Philips Van Heusen as the group president of wholesale sportswear section.

Caleres Targeting Growing Fashion Interest among Men

Though men are traditionally resistant to new fashion, the recent trend as a result of social media and increasing disposable income is that they are generating interest. Walmart recently incremented its focus on men’s segment, purchasing men’s apparel site Bonobos. As per Diane Sullivan, the CEO of Caleres, the company hopes to tap into the emerging markets as well as growing footwear fashion trend among men with the expertise of Malcolm Robinson, who has over three decades of experience in men’s apparel, managing global brand, merchandising, and handling brand positioning.
