The Oil and Gas U.K., in coordination with the Step Change in Safety have declared the finalists for 2017’s list of enterprising companies as well as outstanding individuals in the Offshore Safety Awards. Maersk Oil is the key sponsor for the awards, which celebrates the individuals and companies that have gone beyond the call of duty to create highly stable and safe environments in the Continental Shelf of U.K. The Continental Shelf is regarded by many as one of the safest basins to work in for the oil and gas sector.
August Event for Finalists
The finalists that have been revealed are expected and invited to attend an interactive ceremony on the 23rd of August, 2017 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. The finalists are allowed to pitch their safety initiatives directly to all those attending. The attendees of the ceremony will then cast their vote to declare the winner of the award.
The executive director for the Step Change in Safety, Les Linklater, stated that the event is a wonderful opportunity for companies and individuals to share their initiatives and showcase their examples of core and innovative practices that have been put into action.
Strong Entries This Year
Les Linklater further stated that the finalists for this are will be able to showcase their overall commitment to improving standards of safety employed at their organizations in both onshore as well as offshore facilities. The policy director for Health, Safety and Environment division of Oil and Gas U.K., Mick Borwell, stated that this year has seen some of the strongest contenders for the award so far. The judges have received strong entries and have had a really time condensing the overall list to the finalists.
