US headquartered Amazon.com or world e-commerce giant as it is fondly called has taken a step towards making use of green and clean energy. It is now going to harness solar power to facilitate smooth functioning of its logistics site that is located at Passo Corese in Italy. It is expected that operations from the site would deliver an admirable rate of return over a period of 20 years.
The Arrangement to Offer Impressive Return on Investment
Enerray, a world leader in the designing, management and development of both medium and large photovoltaic systems, has completed the installation of a PV or a photovoltaic system on the rooftop of Amzon.com’s logistic site situated at Passo Corese, in the Italian province of Rieti.
The photovoltaic system comes with a capacity of around 964 kWp. Around 3200 monocrystalline solar modules are being put to use to harness solar energy. All the solar energy, thus produced, will be consumed at itself by the said logistic facility. It is expected that it would deliver a splendid return on investment in the coming 5 years only.
Amazon.com selected the site of Rieti province to set up this new logistic center so as to cater to the needs of its customers in the central and southern parts of Italy. The upcoming multilevel structure is well adjusted to this form of PV deployment which allows high level of electricity consumption for the site itself.
The e-commerce giant’s logistic center in this site is spread over an area of 160,000 square meters out of which an area of 8,500 square meters is exclusively dedicated to the premises of its offices. Around 5230 sq. meters of area is dedicated to the said rooftop photovoltaic system.
